The Band

Davy MacFarlane, was awarded a New Singer Songwriter award in 2000 by the Scottish Arts Council for his original compositions. Incorporating the talents of singer Carolyn Konrad they produced an album of original material, “Konrad”. The band on this recording were members of the Best Dressed Blues Band, christened by Craig Ferguson a.k.a. Bing Hitler “you are the best dressed blues band I ever saw “This album sold out its first run.

Gigs

The band have played venues such as: The Scotia Bar, Glasgow, The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen, The Special Olympics, Glasgow, The Tolbooth, Stirling, twice selling out, the award winning Arty Party, Edinburgh, Celtic Connections, Glasgow. Recently they have played the Big Widstock; a festival connected to the Save The Gillies Hill Campaign, and recorded a five track CD to raise funds for this Charity.

Line Up

Davy MacFarlane:

Guitar, vocals, harmonica, songwriter. Davy had played in various roots rock blues bands including the Best Dressed Blues Band, The Hoolits, Little Wolves and Bad Boogaloo. He has also recorded with Irish legends Doctor Strangely Strange on their 1996 CD Alternative Medicine alongside Gary Moore. Davy also toured with the band and recently appeared with them in a showcase gig in Dublin.




Carolyn Konrad:

Vocals, percussion Carolyn is a professional actress and singer who has worked along side Fish. And also interpreted Ricky Ross’s lyrics in the award winning production of On The Line at Dundee Rep. As well as many theatre productions she has also appeared in Taggart, Still Game, Take The High Road, Yugoslav Hitman and many dramas for children’s BBC. Carolyn combines singing and acting and most recently starred at the Edinburgh Festival in "The Bruce".


Frank McCulloch:

Guitars, mandolin, vocal Frank is a multi instrumentalist and unsung hero of the guitar. He has been Davy’s musical brother for many years. Frank’s sons carry on the tradition playing with Indie bands Dead or American and Hey Enemy.






Magnus Fernandes:

Bass, vocals Magnus started his musical career playing professionally in Uganda at the age of fifteen. He toured constantly with blues rock outfit The Powerhouse Boogie Band who shared stages with luminaries such as, The Groundhogs and Doctor Feelgood.






Gary Jones:

Drums, vocals Gary was born in Australia where his father was a professional drummer. Inheriting his talents Gary went on to play with Twist Arkansas and the Best Dressed Blues Band, amongst others.




The musical palate Konrad provide is difficult to categorise encompassing: blues, funk, jazz and folk music. Given that the bands gene pool consists of: Polish, German, English, Portuguese, Asian and Scottish blood; this is no surprise!
